Pre-2011 Norwegian Dawn Review

Norwegian Dawn made its debut as a part of the NCL fleet in 2002 and it was the third ship of the line to embrace the concept of “Freestyle Cruising”.  The signature element of the Dawn is the Statue of Liberty that adorns her hull.

The first impression we got after boarding the ship was that of an atmosphere filled with fun and excitement. From the colorful décor to the sophisticated restaurants, everything is designed with entertainment in mind and will certainly suit the tastes of guests of all ages.

The 13 restaurants, nine lounges and bars, casino, Broadway Theatre, fitness center and spa and three pools are all geared to making the “Freestyle Cruising” concept an attractive and entertaining one. Variety is the keyword that can best describe a cruising experience on board of the Norwegian Dawn. For instance, diversity is amazing when it comes to dining. A feast for the senses, “Le Bistro French Restaurant” is a charming venue with a menu of exceptional value, featuring classical and contemporary French gourmet dishes. For a more casual dining experience, try the Blue Lagoon, where you can enjoy fast-wok dishes and burgers at any hour of the day or night.

The Norwegian Dawn is an excellent choice for those who are thinking about a family escape, as there are plenty of facilities especially designed for children of all ages. The main playing area is huge and equipped with an impressive climbing maze, several TV rooms, computer and crafts areas. Kids have their own dinosaur-themed pool as well as a smaller sized Jacuzzi. Teens are not overlooked at all, as they can hang out in a special disco and lounge area.

Adults can benefit from a range of activities as well, with an amazing spa with multiple treatment rooms, a jet-massage pool, an aqua therapy pool and plenty of wooden deck chairs in the outdoor lounging area.
